Orbicular Jasper is a microcrystalline variety of Quartz within the Chalcedony group. Its distinctive circular and wave-like patterns form through slow silica deposition within volcanic host rock, creating layered mineral growth over time.

Ocean Jasper Palmstone | 6.2cm | Madagascar

Acquired from an old private collection, this Ocean Jasper palmstone has a calm, natural palette and a satisfying two-sided character.

One side is the more graphic of the two: green and creamy orbs arranged in distinct banding, the colours alternating in sweeping layers that give the piece a structured, almost rhythmic quality. The other side is quieter — predominantly creamy in tone, with green and brown appearing more softly and less insistently, as though the same colours have been turned down a few degrees.

Together the two faces make it a piece that offers something different depending on how you choose to display it.

Shell Jasper Egg | 7.5cm | Mexico

A substantial polished egg of Shell Jasper, displaying the bold circular fossil patterns and earthy cream, black, and ochre tones that make this stone so immediately distinctive.

Approximately 7.5cm. Each piece is natural and will vary slightly in patterning, colour distribution, and fossil detail.

Despite its name, Shell Jasper is not a true Jasper but a fossil-rich limestone or dolomite, formed over millions of years as shells, marine organisms, and mineral sediments settled and compressed on ancient ocean floors. The striking circular patterns are cross-sections of fossilised shells preserved within the matrix, giving each piece a natural geometry that no two specimens share in quite the same way. Mexican material is known for its bold contrast and well-defined fossil structures, making it a favourite among collectors and those drawn to stones with a tangible geological story.

A chunky ocean jasper wand from a private collection, with a bold speckled pattern and warm earthy tones throughout.

The body is a pale cream-buff ground densely scattered with sharp black mineral specks — tourmaline or manganese dendrites — giving the piece a striking salt-and-pepper quality. Warm peach-salmon and rust-orange zones pool through the mid-section, with patches of olive-green and white chalcedony adding further colour variation. The form is gently curved and tactile, with two rounded ends and a smooth, even polish. A piece that rewards handling.

Scattered through the matrix are pockets of dark green, adding depth and contrast, while white orb banding runs as an accent across the surface, tying everything together.
