Stichtite from South Africa, one of only a handful of locations worldwide where this rare chromium carbonate mineral occurs in collectable quality.

Each tumblestone displays vivid violet-to-magenta colouring set against a dark olive-green serpentinite matrix, the two minerals having formed together in ancient ultramafic rock. A near-kilogram malachite stalactite from the Democratic Republic of Congo — one of the world's great copper-belt localities and the source of some of the finest malachite specimens in existence.

The surface is covered entirely in tightly packed botryoidal orbs ranging from small, intricate formations to large, rounded domes, all in a vivid, saturated emerald green. Each orb has a characteristic concentric centre, visible across the specimen, giving the surface an almost cellular quality. At the top, a natural cavity reveals a cluster of druzy crystals in silver-grey — a striking contrast to the green exterior. The reverse shows the raw, unformed underside of the stalactite, with pale matrix and additional malachite growth.

From the Shangulowe Mine in Kambove, one of the Democratic Republic of Congo’s most celebrated copper belt localities — a source renowned for producing some of the finest malachite specimens in the world.

This piece has a distinctly different character to its companion — an elongated, blade-like form with dramatic barite crystals projecting outward from the malachite host, giving it a spiky, architectural silhouette. The front face is covered in vivid emerald-green botryoidal malachite with tightly packed orbs and characteristic concentric banding, interspersed with glassy colourless barite crystals. The reverse reveals the raw banded underside — sweeping teal and green malachite layers with areas of earthy matrix. Presented on an acrylic museum-style display stand.
