Tisbury Starstone Freeform Cabochon | 4.2cm | UK

A particularly interesting Tisbury Starstone cabochon from Wiltshire, UK, and one that rewards close looking. The shape is a tapering rectangle — one edge wider than the other — and the piece has been carved at a slight angle through the coral structure, which means the surface reveals both the classic circular star patterns and the fine feathering effect of the coral's radiating internal structure simultaneously. It is the kind of cut that only happens when the carver works with the stone rather than against it, and the result is a piece with more visual depth than a straightforward face-on cut would produce. Tisbury Starstone is a fossilised coral found exclusively in the ancient soils of Tisbury, Wiltshire, formed approximately 145 million years ago during the Late Jurassic period when this part of England lay beneath a warm, shallow sea. The star patterns are cross-sections through the coral polyp structures, while the feathering reveals the same structures cut at a different angle — both visible here in the same piece because of the sideways orientation of the carve. It is composed of calcium carbonate (CaCO₃), hardness 3–4 Mohs. Handle with care — fossilised coral is fragile and should not be dropped or knocked against harder surfaces.

From the Chala Mine in Spahievo, Bulgaria — one of the few localities producing amethyst with this density of pyrite co-crystallisation.

The face is a dense mosaic of deep violet amethyst points, their terminations almost entirely encrusted with bright, brassy pyrite — micro-crystalline and glittering, catching light across every angle. The coverage is exceptional, the two minerals competing for surface in a way that reads almost architectural. This Marston Marble freeform originates from Marston Magna, Somerset, within the Lower Jurassic Obtusum Zone. Despite its name, Marston Marble is not a true marble but a fossil rich sedimentary limestone formed around 200 million years ago in a shallow marine environment.The stone contains a natural assemblage of Lower Jurassic ammonites, including Promicroceras, Asteroceras, Cymbites, Xipheroceras and related ammonite forms.Each specimen is completely unique, with variations in fossil density, pattern and tone.

Marston Marble has long been valued locally and was historically used in architecture and monuments throughout Somerset, giving each piece both geological and historical significance. This freeform has been shaped and polished to highlight the fossil detail while retaining the natural character of the stone.

Seraphinite Wing Shaped Freeform on Stand 0.9KG, Russia

This exceptional Seraphinite freeform has been naturally shaped and polished into a striking wing like form. The crystal measures approximately 17cm tall and is securely mounted on a custom stand, creating an overall display height of around 23cm. Seraphinite is a Clinochlore variety within the Chlorite group and a Phyllosilicate mineral, formed through metamorphic processes under high pressure and low temperature. Iron content contributes to its vibrant green colour, while its internal structure creates the characteristic chatoyancy.

The name Seraphinite comes from Seraphim, celestial beings, inspired by the mineral’s natural wing and feather like appearance.
