Flower Agate Flame | 9.5cm | Madagascar

A gorgeous one-off Flower Agate flame from Madagascar with an unusually deep, rusty orange base colour — a striking departure from the pale pink most Flower Agate displays, and one of the most distinctive examples of this stone we have had in. The plume formations are bold and clearly defined, standing out beautifully against the warm, earthy base. One piece, sold as seen.

Flower Agate is a variety of Chalcedony discovered in Madagascar in 2018. The flower-like formations are three-dimensional plumes of opaque Chalcedony suspended within a translucent base, visible from the surface as petal-shaped inclusions that genuinely resemble blossoms frozen in stone. The orange and rusty tones in this piece come from iron oxide present during crystallisation — the same chemistry that colours many Agates and Jaspers, here producing something genuinely unusual within the Flower Agate family.

A substantial green onyx tower from India with exceptional banding — one of the most painterly examples of this material we have handled.

The colour story runs from a warm amber-orange crown, through bands of sage and celadon green, into a series of fine terracotta, coral, and dusty rose stripes across the mid-section, before settling into a cool, translucent pale green at the base. The banding is fluid and organic, with each layer varying in width and intensity — no two faces read the same. The polish is high and glassy, allowing light to pass through the thinner sections and illuminate the layering from within. At 25 × 9.4 × 7.7cm and 3.24kg, this is a commanding display piece.

Please note: this piece has minor surface chips near the tip and at the base, visible in the listing photos and reflected in the price. These are small and do not detract from the overall beauty of the tower.

Sphalerite with Minor Smithsonite on White Quartz | Nenthead, Cumbria

A striking large-scale mineral specimen from Boundary Gate Pocket, Nenthead, Cumbria, featuring lustrous dark sphalerite set across a white quartz matrix.

The front presents a dramatic contrast of metallic black to deep brown sphalerite crystals, bright white quartz and warm earthy accents from the associated mineral growth. The reverse reveals further texture and colour, giving this substantial specimen plenty of detail to explore from different angles.

Collected from Boundary Gate Pocket in January 2003, this is a characterful piece with a strong sense of locality and provenance. Minor smithsonite adds to the mineral interest of the specimen without taking away from the bold sphalerite and quartz combination.

A rare iron-red phantom quartz cluster from Morocco, where generations of mineral growth have left vivid ghost formations suspended within each crystal point.

The cluster is densely packed with short, rounded quartz terminations coated in deep brick-red and dusty rose haematite inclusions. Colour zoning shifts from rich burgundy at the base to translucent blush at the tips, with pockets of white matrix and a small natural cavity at the centre adding depth and character. This 169g sphere (4.7cm diameter) from India displays the signature colouring that makes Kämmererite one of the most sought after collector minerals in the world. Kämmererite is a chromium-rich variety of Clinochlore, a member of the Chlorite mineral group, the presence of chromium within its layered silicate structure producing its distinctive purple and pink hues against the natural green of the host mineral.

A beautifully sculptural Cerussite specimen with warm honey-golden colouring, glassy translucent areas and layered crystal growth that catches the light across its surface.

The piece has an irregular, naturally formed silhouette, with stepped crystal faces and softly rounded areas shifting from pale champagne to richer amber-brown. Light moves through the thinner sections to reveal the mineral’s internal depth, while the more densely formed areas have a bright, resinous to adamantine lustre. Hypersthene is a member of the Pyroxene mineral family, forming within igneous and metamorphic rocks as magnesium and iron-rich silicate minerals crystallise under high temperature and pressure conditions. Its name comes from the Greek for above strength, a reference to its hardness relative to Hornblende, the mineral it was originally compared to. The schiller effect — the soft, moving shimmer visible when light catches the surface — is caused by light reflecting from thin parallel layers of mineral inclusions within the crystal structure, similar to the effect seen in Labradorite and Moonstone. It is one of those stones that rewards slow handling: the shimmer only reveals itself as the piece moves.
