Uvarovite is a calcium chromium silicate and the rarest member of the Garnet group. It forms in chromium-rich metamorphic and ultramafic rocks, where small but intensely coloured crystals develop on the surface of the host matrix. Its brilliant green colour is caused by chromium, the same element responsible for the colour of Emerald.

Traditionally associated with love, compassion, and inner harmony, Uvarovite resonates with the Heart Chakra and is often chosen to support emotional balance, spiritual growth, and a sense of connection to the natural world.

A substantial and beautifully polished Serpentine freeform from Madagascar — sold locally under the trade name Green Opal — with a colour that is immediately arresting: a vivid, almost luminous lime-green with a fine granular texture that gives the surface a soft, organic quality.

The dominant face is a clean, bright yellow-green, while the reverse reveals a large warm amber-orange inclusion — a natural iron oxide staining within the serpentine matrix — that contrasts beautifully against the green. Broad and rounded, self-standing on a flat base, with a high mirror polish across all faces. At 3.72kg it has real weight and presence.

Serpentine is not a single mineral but a group of magnesium silicate minerals — most commonly antigorite, lizardite, and chrysotile — formed through the metamorphic alteration of olivine and pyroxene in ultramafic rocks. The vivid lime-green is characteristic of high-magnesium serpentine, while the amber-orange patches are caused by iron oxide inclusions. Note: ‘Green Opal’ is a trade name used in Madagascar; this piece is mineralogically serpentine, not true opal.

Caribbean Calcite is a relatively recent discovery from Pakistan, and these small carved hearts capture its distinctive palette beautifully — each one a miniature landscape of ocean and sky.

The base colour is a soft, milky ocean blue with swirling white aragonite inclusions and occasional patches of warm sandy brown. No two pieces are alike; the patterning ranges from open, airy blue to more heavily banded pieces with strong contrast. The surface is polished smooth with a gentle matte sheen. At 3cm, these sit neatly in the palm.

A captivating yellow apatite specimen from Cerro de Mercado, Durango, Mexico — and one with a hidden secret: hold it to the light and rainbow flecks dance inside the crystal.

This chunky, well-formed piece displays a rich olive-yellow to golden-green colour with excellent vitreous lustre across its natural crystal faces. The form is bold and architectural, with stepped terminations and a satisfying weight in the hand. But the real magic reveals itself in direct light — internal fractures and inclusions scatter the light into prismatic rainbow flashes, shifting as the piece is turned. A genuinely special optical quality for a specimen at this size.

Barite on Malachite | 52mm | Shangulowe Mine, DR Congo

From the Shangulowe Mine in Kambove, one of the Democratic Republic of Congo’s most celebrated copper belt localities — a source renowned for producing some of the finest malachite specimens in the world.

This piece has a distinctly different character to its companion — an elongated, blade-like form with dramatic barite crystals projecting outward from the malachite host, giving it a spiky, architectural silhouette. The front face is covered in vivid emerald-green botryoidal malachite with tightly packed orbs and characteristic concentric banding, interspersed with glassy colourless barite crystals. The reverse reveals the raw banded underside — sweeping teal and green malachite layers with areas of earthy matrix. Presented on an acrylic museum-style display stand.
