Dravite / Brown Tourmaline
Dravite, also known as Brown Tourmaline, is a variety of Tourmaline admired for its warm earthy tones ranging from golden brown to deep chocolate shades. It forms in metamorphic and igneous environments where mineral rich fluids allow prismatic crystals to grow with natural vertical striations. The rich colour and distinctive crystal structure give each specimen a grounded and natural appearance. Traditionally, Dravite is associated with stability, protection and connection to the Earth.

A substantial dravite crystal from the renowned May Downs Station locality near Mt Isa, Queensland — one of Australia's most celebrated tourmaline-producing regions.
The piece is a deep, opaque brown with a striking metallic sheen across the primary prism faces, where the surface catches light with an almost graphitic lustre. Strong vertical striations run the full length of the crystal, and the naturally bevelled termination shows clean, well-defined facets. The reverse and sides reveal a more textured, granular surface with pale white matrix threading through the cleavage planes. Solid and weighty at 122.44g and 63 × 33 × 28mm, this is a piece that commands presence on any shelf or display.
Dravite is the magnesium-rich member of the tourmaline group, associated with the Root and Earth Star Chakras. It is used for deep grounding, protection, and self-acceptance — a powerful anchor stone for those doing serious inner work. Australian dravite from this locality is particularly prized by collectors for its exceptional crystal habit and provenance.
Size: 63 × 33 × 28mm
Weight: 122.44g
Origin: May Downs Station, near Mt Isa, QLD, Australia
One piece available, sold as seen. Display stand not included.
A well-formed dravite crystal with a clean, upright habit and a striking deep brown/black colour — a textbook example of tourmaline's characteristic prismatic form.
The piece is deep, opaque brown with strong vertical striations running the full length of the prism faces and a naturally stepped termination at the top. The reverse shows a more complex, etched surface with pale white matrix threading through the cleavage — a contrast that highlights the crystal's natural growth history. The base is raw and unworked. At 3.2 × 2.9 × 1.7cm it stands confidently upright on its included acrylic display stand, secured with a small amount of white tack that is easily removed.
Dravite is the magnesium-rich member of the tourmaline group, associated with the Root and Earth Star Chakras. It is used for grounding, protection, and self-acceptance — a steadying stone for those seeking to feel anchored and secure.
Size: 3.2 × 2.9 × 1.7cm
Weight: 17.50g

A compact dravite specimen with a richly complex surface — powerful enough for the collector, small enough to keep close. A perfect pocket-sized grounding companion.
The piece is deep brown to near-black with a resinous, semi-translucent quality on the freshest faces, where warm amber tones glow through under direct light. Strong vertical striations run across the prism faces, interrupted by natural cleavage steps and pale matrix threading through the structure. The form is irregular and organic, with a raw, unworked quality throughout. At 2.9 × 1.9 × 2.5cm it sits comfortably between the fingers.
Dravite is the magnesium-rich member of the tourmaline group, associated with the Root and Earth Star Chakras. It is used for grounding, self-acceptance, and clearing energetic debris — a steadying stone for those doing deep inner work.

Size: 2.9 × 1.9 × 2.5cm
Weight: 17.72g
Origin: Unknown
One piece available, sold as seen.
A naturally formed dravite specimen with a well-developed hexagonal cross-section — a crystal habit rarely seen this clearly in rough tourmaline.
The piece is deep charcoal-brown to near-black, with strong vertical striations running the length of the prism faces and pale grey-white matrix threading through the cleavage lines. A granular, slightly metallic face carries scattered mica flecks that catch the light, and the full hexagonal form is blocky and architectural. At approximately 3 × 3 × 3cm it sits solidly without support.
Dravite is the magnesium-rich member of the tourmaline group, associated with the Root and Earth Star Chakras. It is used for grounding, self-acceptance, and clearing energetic debris — a steadying stone for those doing deep inner work.

Weight: 35.7g
