The name comes from a Finnish Mineralogist Nils Gustaf Nordenskiöld, who discovered Alexandrite first in 1834 and thought initially it was Emerald, but after further examination he discovered it was a different mineral and named it after Emperor of All Russia Alexander II Romanov. It is one of the hardest minerals out there with a Mohs Hardness of 8.5 and therefor is a perfect gem for jewellery as well. Alexandrite is now found in India, Brazil, Madagascar, Tanzania, Sri Lanka and Russia. The gorgeous colour is from a replacement of Aluminium by Chromium Ions in the crystal structure. High grade Alexandrite is also knows as ‘Emerald by day, Ruby by Night’ due to its colour change depending on the light, this effect is named after this gem ‘the Alexandrite effect’. But that is not all, another effect that Alexandrite has it ‘Pleochroism’, meaning it can change colour when viewed from different directions. Spiritually Alexandrite brings joy, pleasure and prosperity and is a great match for crystals such as Pyrite and Gold Sheen Sapphire and Citrine. This lovely crystal will stimulate your spiritual channels as well when meditating or when you wear it try to be conscious of your surroundings, absorb what you feel and experience especially in nature. Alexandrite is also a great crystal for ‘attunement’ , that will bring you closer to your spiritual connections and prepare you for receiving those deeper energies. Import Duties & Taxes (outside the UK)

Import duties and taxes for international shipments may be liable to be paid upon arrival in destination country. This varies by country, and Tali and Loz encourage you to be aware of these potential costs before placing an order with us.

If you refuse to pay duties and taxes upon arrival at your destination country, the goods will be returned to Tali and Loz at the customers expense, and the customer will receive a refund for the value of goods paid, minus the cost of the return shipping. The cost of the initial shipping will not be refunded.
