Libyan Desert Glass, also known as Libyan Gold Tektite, is a rare and fascinating tektite found in the Sahara Desert. Formed over 28 million years ago, its origins are believed to be from a meteorite impact. The captivating yellow to greenish-yellow hue of this glassy substance is thought to derive from the presence of iron and other trace elements.

It was only officially discovered in 1932 by P. Clayton and named after the Libyan desert where it was first discovered, this enigmatic gem has been prized by ancient civilizations for its beauty and believed mystical properties. Historically, it was used in jewellery and amulets, symbolising protection and clarity. A piece of it was found in King Tut's burial chamber, on an intricate scarab beetle.

Import Duties & Taxes (outside the UK)

Import duties and taxes for international shipments may be liable to be paid upon arrival in destination country. This varies by country, and Tali and Loz encourage you to be aware of these potential costs before placing an order with us.

If you refuse to pay duties and taxes upon arrival at your destination country, the goods will be returned to Tali and Loz at the customers expense, and the customer will receive a refund for the value of goods paid, minus the cost of the return shipping.
