A striking large-scale mineral specimen from Boundary Gate Pocket, Nenthead, Cumbria, featuring lustrous dark sphalerite set across a white quartz matrix.

The front presents a dramatic contrast of metallic black to deep brown sphalerite crystals, bright white quartz and warm earthy accents from the associated mineral growth. The reverse reveals further texture and colour, giving this substantial specimen plenty of detail to explore from different angles.

Collected from Boundary Gate Pocket in January 2003, this is a characterful piece with a strong sense of locality and provenance. Minor smithsonite adds to the mineral interest of the specimen without taking away from the bold sphalerite and quartz combination.

Sphalerite is associated in crystal lore with grounding, vitality and confidence, and is often linked with the Root and Solar Plexus Chakras. A powerful statement piece for a serious mineral collection or display.

Hureaulite with Rockbridgeite | 6.9cm | South Dakota

A rare and well-provenanced phosphate mineral specimen from one of South Dakota's most celebrated pegmatite localities, sourced from an old private collection.

This 60.7g specimen (approximately 69x36x24mm) from the Bull Moose Mine in Custer, South Dakota displays characteristic dark blue-black Rockbridgeite matrix with patches of warm orange-pink secondary mineralisation and white crystalline material. Hureaulite is a manganese phosphate hydrate mineral forming in the oxidised zones of granitic pegmatites, while Rockbridgeite is an iron phosphate mineral that frequently occurs alongside it. The Bull Moose Mine is one of South Dakota's most well-regarded mineral localities for collector-quality phosphate specimens.

This pairing supports transformation, energy flow, and the clearing of stagnant energy, with Rockbridgeite bringing a grounding, stabilising quality to anchor new perspectives.

From the celebrated Tharsis mining district of Andalusia, Spain — one of the few localities in the world known to produce goethite with this quality of iridescence.

The surface is entirely botryoidal, built up from tightly packed rounded orbs in deep charcoal and iron-black. Across this, a vivid iridescent film shifts between crimson, magenta, teal-green, and violet depending on the angle and light source — the effect is almost oil-slick in its intensity, with pockets of brighter colour concentrated along the ridges and edges of the botryoidal formations. The close-up shots show the full complexity of the colour play particularly well.
