Benefits of crystal bath therapy

Crystal bath therapy combines the healing qualities of crystals with the relaxing

and rejuvenating practice of soaking in a bathtub. They are placed in the water as well as around the bathroom and can be combined with essential oils, bath salts and candles to set the scene.

The difference between regular baths and the cleansing energetic kind that includes crystals is that they are done for much more than cleanliness.

Think of crystal bath therapy as your moment to wash away negative energy, recharge and invite a different kind of spiritual hygiene into your life that will leave you feeling refreshed and recharged.

After doing your research and deciding on which crystals you want around your bathroom, you can place them around the space or create a crystal altar that will spread loving vibrations every time you enter.

Bathing with crystals checklist

When it comes to crystal baths, it is important to set the scene for a total relaxation journey.

Choose your crystals: there are many options to fit your mood and desired effect. Even if you only have one crystal that you want to start with, that is perfectly fine. If you are feeling stressed, then an anxiety reliever like Jade or a wonderful Amethyst stone will be perfect.

Arrange your space and set the scene: utilise candles, petals, soft music, turn

your phone off and give yourself permission to embrace “me time”. Some people prefer to draw hot water then place the crystals inside before topping up with the rest of the water at your ideal temperature. You may also fill your bathtub, add essential oils and keep the stones on or near your body.

Enter the bath: step into the bath and let the worries of the world wash away. It is best to stay for at least 20-30 minutes in your bath.

Set an intention: focus your intention on what you want to achieve and charge the crystal with your energy. Not familiar with intention setting? That’s fine! Head over to our simple crystal healing guide for all the details.

Water safe crystals: what are your options?

While some crystals are perfectly happy to be submerged in water, others will get damaged, split, break or start to release toxic fumes.

Generally speaking, crystals that are a 5 or below on the Mohs Hardness Scale are not suitable for crystal bath therapy. While the scale gives a good general rule, other factors such as porousness are also important. Crystals like Pyrite and Hematite for example are 5.5-6.5 on Moh’s Hardness Scale but since they are iron ores, exposing them to water for a long period of time can make them rusty.

Another good rule of thumb is that if it ends in -ite it is probably water-soluble.

Sacral Chakra - sensuality & pleasure

Solar Plexus Chakra - self-esteem & determination
