Green Fuchsite Palmstones | 6cm | India

Hand carved, with a point at the top that is not perfectly straight — a characteristic of the hand carving process rather than a flaw, and part of what makes this a genuinely handmade piece. Carnelian is a variety of Chalcedony, a microcrystalline form of Quartz, coloured by iron oxide inclusions that produce its characteristic warm orange to red tones. It forms from silica-rich solutions crystallising within volcanic and sedimentary environments, and Indian material is among the most widely available and consistently warm-toned in the collector market.

Lapis Lazuli is one of the oldest decorative stones in human history, prized by the Ancient Egyptians, Sumerians, and Mesopotamian civilisations for its intense royal blue. The colour comes from Lazurite, a sodalite-group mineral that forms through the metamorphism of limestone under intense heat and pressure. The golden flecks are natural Pyrite, and the pale veining is Calcite — both characteristic of genuine Lapis Lazuli. Indian material tends toward a rich, slightly varied blue with generous Pyrite, giving each egg its own character.
