A wonderfully rare natural Alexandrite twin crystal from Brazil, weighing 0.66g and measuring 0.85x0.7x0.4cm. Two crystals grown together in a single intergrown formation, this compact and beautifully proportioned piece is a genuine collector find. Alexandrite is a chromium-bearing variety of Chrysoberyl, and one of the most scientifically remarkable minerals on earth, producing a dramatic shift from green in natural daylight to a rich reddish-brown under incandescent or torch light. This colour change is caused by chromium absorbing light selectively across the visible spectrum, a phenomenon so rare and coveted that fine natural Alexandrite has long commanded prices among the highest of any gemstone mineral in the world.
