Sourced from the volcanic highlands of Mexico, where opal forms in ancient rhyolite — this egg carries the warm, earthy palette of its origins.

The base tone is a muted olive-khaki, shifting to warm caramel and rich chestnut across the surface. Scattered throughout are irregular patches of dusty slate-blue — the telltale hallmark of Mexican matrix opal — sitting within a mosaic of cream and buff veining. The polish is high and glassy, catching light across the contoured surface and revealing depth in the layered patterning. Each face shows a different composition: one side dominated by the blue inclusions, another by sweeping brown tones, a third by the pale cream matrix.

A substantial and beautifully polished Serpentine freeform from Madagascar — sold locally under the trade name Green Opal — with a colour that is immediately arresting: a vivid, almost luminous lime-green with a fine granular texture that gives the surface a soft, organic quality.

The dominant face is a clean, bright yellow-green, while the reverse reveals a large warm amber-orange inclusion — a natural iron oxide staining within the serpentine matrix — that contrasts beautifully against the green. Broad and rounded, self-standing on a flat base, with a high mirror polish across all faces. At 3.72kg it has real weight and presence.

Serpentine is not a single mineral but a group of magnesium silicate minerals — most commonly antigorite, lizardite, and chrysotile — formed through the metamorphic alteration of olivine and pyroxene in ultramafic rocks. The vivid lime-green is characteristic of high-magnesium serpentine, while the amber-orange patches are caused by iron oxide inclusions. Note: ‘Green Opal’ is a trade name used in Madagascar; this piece is mineralogically serpentine, not true opal.

A petite but vivid Ethiopian opal cabochon cut in a classic teardrop form — warm honey-yellow body colour with an exceptional play of colour that belies its tiny scale.

The body tone is a rich amber-gold, semi-transparent and glowing with internal warmth. Across the domed surface, broad flashes of green, teal, and orange roll and shift with every movement — the orange concentrated in a swirling pool at the base, the greens spreading across the upper face in overlapping bands. The profile reveals a well-proportioned cabochon dome with a flat base, polished to a high lustre throughout. Presented in a black gem box.
