A permineralised wood specimen from Zwenkau, Leipzig, Germany, where millions of years of silicification have transformed ancient timber into solid mineral, with every grain, knot, and bark ridge preserved in extraordinary detail.

Deep chocolate-brown throughout, the surface retains the full texture of the original wood: vertical grain lines run the length of the piece, a natural concave profile at the crown echoes the living tree's form, and the outer bark edge is intact on one side. Catch it in direct light and the surface comes alive with a fine copper-gold mineral sparkle, iron pyrite or goethite dusting embedded within the silica matrix. Formed through the metamorphism of manganese-rich rocks, Rhodochrosite is often found in stalactitic formations, displaying its characteristic banded patterns. Rubellite Tourmaline Crystal | 35mm | Brazil

A substantial rubellite tourmaline crystal from Brazil, with exceptional translucency for a specimen of this size.

The prism is broad and columnar, with deeply striated faces running the full length of the crystal. Colour zones from vivid raspberry-pink on the front face — almost glowing under light — to deep wine-burgundy on the reverse, with dark inclusions threading through the interior. The termination end is naturally cleaved rather than faceted, giving it a raw, unworked character. Under torchlight the crystal becomes semi-translucent, revealing the internal colour gradient in full.

A substantial and beautifully polished Serpentine freeform from Madagascar — sold locally under the trade name Green Opal — with a colour that is immediately arresting: a vivid, almost luminous lime-green with a fine granular texture that gives the surface a soft, organic quality.

The dominant face is a clean, bright yellow-green, while the reverse reveals a large warm amber-orange inclusion — a natural iron oxide staining within the serpentine matrix — that contrasts beautifully against the green. Broad and rounded, self-standing on a flat base, with a high mirror polish across all faces. At 3.72kg it has real weight and presence.

Serpentine is not a single mineral but a group of magnesium silicate minerals — most commonly antigorite, lizardite, and chrysotile — formed through the metamorphic alteration of olivine and pyroxene in ultramafic rocks. The side profile reveals the raw sandy matrix underneath, showing clearly how the blue crystals have grown outward from the host rock. Blue Baryte is a barium sulfate mineral in the Barite group, with its characteristic steel blue colouring attributed to trace elements within the crystal structure, and a Mohs hardness of just 3 to 3.5 that gives its crystals their distinctive thin bladed habit.

Tisbury Starstone is a fossilised coral found exclusively in the ancient soils of Tisbury, Wiltshire, formed approximately 145 million years ago during the Late Jurassic period when this part of England lay beneath a warm, shallow sea. The characteristic star and feather-like patterns are the preserved skeletal structures of coral polyps, their intricate geometry locked in stone over millions of years of gradual mineralisation. It is composed of calcium carbonate (CaCO₃), hardness 3–4 Mohs. Handle with care — fossilised coral is fragile and should not be dropped or knocked against harder surfaces.

A beautifully polished Arfvedsonite & Garnet slab from India — a flat, display-ready slice that showcases the full drama of this rare mineral combination in extraordinary detail.

The base matrix is a deep charcoal-black, shot through with dense, radiating sprays of Arfvedsonite — its blades catching the light in flashes of bronze, silver, and dark gold, fanning outward in striking starburst patterns. Scattered throughout are warm reddish-brown Garnet inclusions, adding depth and contrast to the metallic shimmer. Dense midnight-blue botryoidal fluorite nodules coat this compact cluster in a deep, near-black indigo crust, their rounded surfaces carrying a high resinous lustre. Scattered white druzy quartz crystals punctuate the dark surface, catching the light against the deep blue. The base opens into a raw grey quartz matrix with smoky inclusions, grounding the piece structurally.
