The rose hue comes from iron inclusions during crystallisation, while the Flower Agate formations develop as chalcedony deposits radiating outward in petal-like patterns within the same host rock. A glimpse of warm golden matrix and a small sparkling druzy pocket add a final touch of natural texture.

Turn this Brazilian rutilated smoky quartz in your hand and it reveals two different moods, from warm, golden tones to icy-white quartz and dark, metallic hematite.

On one side, translucent yellow-gold quartz reveals fine rutile threads beneath glassy faces, with smoky-brown points rising behind it. Turn the piece and a broad area of cloudy, icy-white quartz comes into view, edged with dark hematite and smaller sparkling crystals. A larger Flower Agate flame from Madagascar with real character — pink plume patterning across the front face, natural cracks within the stone, and on the reverse, a distinctive white Agate inclusion set against a smoky, translucent base rather than the typical pink. One piece, sold as seen.

Flower Agate is a variety of Chalcedony discovered in Madagascar in 2018. The flower-like formations are three-dimensional plumes of opaque pink and white Chalcedony suspended within a translucent base, visible from the surface as petal-shaped inclusions that genuinely resemble blossoms frozen in stone. They form as silica-rich fluids infiltrate cavities in volcanic rock, with the plumes growing outward as the material slowly crystallises.
