This Lunar meteorite NWA 13568 is a rare feldspathic breccia originating from the Sahara Desert in the Tindouf region of Algeria, where it was discovered in 2020. Lunar meteorites are fragments of the Moon itself, ejected into space by powerful asteroid impacts before eventually travelling through the Solar System and landing on Earth.

NWA 13568 represents material from the ancient Lunar highlands, the bright crustal regions that formed during the earliest history of the Moon over 4 billion years ago. Classified as a polymict feldspathic breccia, the meteorite is composed of multiple fragmented rock types that were shattered and fused together by repeated impact events on the lunar surface.
