This natural Tanzanite gemstone weighs approximately 0.65g and originates from the Merelani Hills of northern Tanzania, the only known source of Tanzanite worldwide. Discovered in 1967, Tanzanite is a blue violet variety of Zoisite valued for its rarity, limited geographic origin and distinctive colour range.
Mineralogically, Tanzanite is a vanadium bearing variety of Zoisite that forms under specific metamorphic conditions, with trace element chemistry responsible for its blue violet colour and strong pleochroism.
