White/Clear Calcite typically forms in sedimentary environments through the precipitation of calcium carbonate from water rich in dissolved minerals. This process occurs over millions of years as layers of sediment accumulate and undergo compaction and cementation.

Optical calcite, also known as Iceland spar, forms through the process of crystallisation from calcium carbonate-rich solutions. This type of calcite is unique because of its property of double refraction, which splits a ray of light into two beams when it passes through the crystal.
The formation of optical calcite typically occurs in environments where there are calcium carbonate-rich solutions, such as limestone deposits or hydrothermal veins. These solutions infiltrate cracks and cavities within existing rocks, where they undergo the process of crystallisation. As the calcium carbonate molecules arrange themselves into a crystalline structure, they can form transparent or translucent crystals of optical calcite.

Import Duties & Taxes (outside the UK)

Import duties and taxes for international shipments may be liable to be paid upon arrival in destination country. This varies by country, and Tali and Loz encourage you to be aware of these potential costs before placing an order with us.

If you refuse to pay duties and taxes upon arrival at your destination country, the goods will be returned to Tali and Loz at the customers expense, and the customer will receive a refund for the value of goods paid, minus the cost of the return shipping. The cost of the initial shipping will not be refunded.
