Watermelon Tourmaline is a variety of Elbaite that forms in granite pegmatites, while Smoky Quartz develops when natural radiation interacts with Quartz, giving it its smoky hue. Together, they create a visually balanced and geologically interesting specimen.

Watermelon tourmaline forms in pegmatite veins within metamorphic rocks under high pressure and temperature conditions. Its distinctive pink and green hues result from variations in the mineral's composition during its formation. The pink core develops due to the presence of manganese, while the green rim forms from iron-rich components. As the tourmaline crystal grows, changes in chemical composition occur, leading to the unique watermelon-like coloration. This phenomenon is known as zoning, where different colour zones form within a single crystal.
