This piece has a distinctly different character to its companion — an elongated, blade-like form with dramatic barite crystals projecting outward from the malachite host, giving it a spiky, architectural silhouette. The front face is covered in vivid emerald-green botryoidal malachite with tightly packed orbs and characteristic concentric banding, interspersed with glassy colourless barite crystals. Hypersthene is a member of the Pyroxene mineral family, forming within igneous and metamorphic rocks as magnesium and iron-rich silicate minerals crystallise under high temperature and pressure conditions. Its name comes from the Greek for above strength, a reference to its hardness relative to Hornblende, the mineral it was originally compared to. The schiller effect — the soft, moving shimmer visible when light catches the surface — is caused by light reflecting from thin parallel layers of mineral inclusions within the crystal structure, similar to the effect seen in Labradorite and Moonstone. It is one of those stones that rewards slow handling: the shimmer only reveals itself as the piece moves.

A cluster of intergrown cubic fluorite in rich teal-green, each face catching light with a glassy, translucent depth. Cream and grey calcite rosettes spread across the surface and into the cavities between crystals, their botryoidal forms contrasting sharply with the angular fluorite geometry.
