This 1.18gr specimen (1.9x0.8x0.7cm) from the Wessels Mine, South Africa. Sugilite is a potassium sodium lithium iron manganese silicate forming in manganese-rich environments, first identified in Japan in 1944 by petrologist Kenichi Sugi. Each specimen is completely natural and unique.

From the Shangulowe Mine in Kambove, one of the Democratic Republic of Congo’s most celebrated copper belt localities — a source renowned for producing some of the finest malachite specimens in the world.

A chunky, three-dimensional specimen with a dramatic crown of upright barite needle clusters erupting from the top face. The barite crystals are elongated and translucent, coated in fine emerald-green malachite that gives them a vivid, almost iridescent quality. The lower portion is dominated by a dense, earthy iron-oxide matrix in warm ochre and russet tones, with pockets of glassy barite and malachite growth visible throughout. A rare emerald triplet from Colombia — three parallel hexagonal columns sharing a common matrix base, a growth form seldom encountered in emerald specimens of this quality.

The dominant colour is a vivid teal-green, rich and saturated across the primary crystal faces, shifting to a cooler blue-green where the columns meet. Warm amber and ochre tones run through the matrix between the columns, the result of iron-rich inclusions that contrast beautifully against the emerald green. The surface of each column shows the characteristic stepped, grid-like growth pattern of beryl — horizontal striations crossing vertical prism edges to create a natural lattice effect. The reverse reveals the raw, granular matrix base with scattered mica and pale feldspar. At 46 × 41 × 20mm this is a substantial, display-ready piece with genuine collector provenance.
