This Permineralised wood specimen measures approximately 6cm and originates from Zwenkau, Leipzig, Germany. It dates to the Eocene period, around 35 million years old, and represents fossilised ancient wood preserved through mineral rich groundwater.

During permineralisation, minerals slowly replaced the original wood structure while retaining its natural grain and growth patterns. A subtle natural shimmer may be visible across the surface, caused by microscopic mineral crystals formed as silica and other minerals filled the cellular structure and began to reflect light.
