Mangano Calcit: Still und Rosa, bis Sie eine UV-Lampe darauf leuchten

Mangano-Calcit ist im Tageslicht blassrosa und unter UV-Licht stark fluoreszierend. Beide Effekte haben die gleiche Ursache: Spuren von Manganionen in der Calciumcarbonatstruktur. Die Körperfarbe entsteht dadurch, wie Mangan sichtbares Licht absorbiert. Die Fluoreszenz entsteht dadurch, wie es UV-Energie als sichtbares Licht wieder abgibt.
