Mookait ist eine Jaspisvarietät aus Westaustralien, deren lebhafte Rot-, Gelb-, Lila- und Cremetöne alle auf eine einzige Quelle zurückzuführen sind: die verkieselten Überreste von Radiolarien, mikroskopisch kleinen einzelligen Meeresorganismen, die vor 100 Millionen Jahren in einem flachen Meer lebten, das das Landesinnere Australiens bedeckte.
