Dieses 50,73 g schwere Exemplar (ca. 4x3,3x2,7cm) aus der Linka Mine in Lander County, Nevada, der Typ-Lokalität und dem einzigen Fundort weltweit, wo Pottsit jemals gefunden wurde, ist mit einer lebhaften kanariengelben pudrigen Schicht überzogen, die sich brilliant vom dunkelgrauen Muttergestein abhebt. Pottsit ist ein extrem seltenes Bleivanadiumvanadathydroxid-Mineral, das als sekundäres Oxidationsprodukt in den verwitterten Zonen bleihaltiger Erzlagerstätten entsteht. Seine außergewöhnliche hellgelbe Farbe wird durch den Vanadiumgehalt in seiner Struktur hervorgerufen.

Benannt nach Dr. Edward Potts, einem bekannten Mineralogen, wurde Pottsit erstmals in den oxidierten Zonen von vanadiumreichen Lagerstätten entdeckt. Dieser lebendige Kristall stammt am häufigsten aus Arizona, USA, und zeichnet sich durch seine helle, feurige Energie aus.
