Darwinglas, auch als Darwinite bekannt, ist ein faszinierender Tektit, der südlich von Queenstown an der Westküste Tasmaniens, Australien, gefunden wird. Dieses glasartige Material gehört zur Tektitgruppe und entstand durch die intensive Hitze und den Druck eines Meteoriteneinschlags. Sein Name stammt von dem Streufeld in der Nähe des Mount Darwin, Tasmanien, wo es zuerst entdeckt wurde.

Darwin-Glas weist eine Reihe von Farben auf, von tiefem Schwarz bis hin zu verschiedenen Grün- und sogar Weißtönen, die die unterschiedlichen mineralischen Zusammensetzungen widerspiegeln, die sich aus dem Einschlagereignis ergeben. Die dunklen Varianten enthalten höhere Konzentrationen an Eisen, Chrom, Nickel, Kobalt und Magnesium, wahrscheinlich aufgrund der Mischung aus extraterrestrischen und lokalen metamorphen Gesteinen während des Einschlags.

Import Duties & Taxes (outside the UK)

Import duties and taxes for international shipments may be liable to be paid upon arrival in destination country. This varies by country, and Tali and Loz encourage you to be aware of these potential costs before placing an order with us.

If you refuse to pay duties and taxes upon arrival at your destination country, the goods will be returned to Tali and Loz at the customers expense, and the customer will receive a refund for the value of goods paid, minus the cost of the return shipping. The cost of the initial shipping will not be refunded.
